Preparation Instructions:
This Mix may be used for deep frying, pan frying, or oven-baked foods. This Mix is formulated with a delicate blend of spices to compliment the flavor of fried foods.
DEEP FRYING:
1. Combine approximately one part fry mix with one part water. (For best results, use 18 – 20 ounces of water for each pound of mix used).
2. Mix, using a wire whip or electric beater until smooth. A smooth batter produces a crisper coating. NOTE: Too thick a batter will not obtain the desired crisp exterior, and too thin a batter will have a tendency to fall off.
3. FRY AT 375°F.
Fish Fillets …………………..4 – 7 minutes
Shrimp, Scallops ………….2 – 4 minutes
Onion Rings …………… 11/2 – 2 minutes
Breaded Beef ………………3 – 6 minutes
Mushrooms …………….. 2 – 3 minutes
Vegetables …………….. 2 – 4 minutes
Chicken Pieces ……….. 5 – 8 minutes
Pork Cutlets ……………. 3 – 6 minutes
PAN FRYING:
Moisten product with water. Roll in dry mix until coated. Place product in a preheated pan coated with enough oil to cover the bottom. Fry until golden brown, turn, repeat process. Reduce heat and continue cooking with a cover on the pan. This will produce a softer coating while reducing the cooking time. If a crisper coating is desired, continue without a cover.
OVEN BAKING:
Prepare as for pan frying. Place in greased baking pans. Bake without turning at 350°F until golden brown.
Note: For an interesting taste, and texture, replace part of the water with beer or soda water.
Servings:
One pound of mix will batter approximately twelve pounds of product or 40 onion rings.
